The Fratty Friend S Guide To Gift Giving

Got a friend’s birthday coming up who’s in a sorority or fraternity? Or perhaps you’re Greek yourself and it’s one of your brothers or sisters who are celebrating a birthday. Here’s a list of potential gift-giving ideas, guaranteed to make your fratty friend smile.

1) Greek Picture Frame – If it’s one of your own brothers or sisters, chances are, you’ve made a lot of great memories together. Give them a picture frame with your organization’s letters and fill it with a photo from Spring Break or Formal. Or, if you’ve got tons of photos, you can buy a Greek-themed photo album and fill it up, even adding captions to photos to commemorate every occasion.

2) Throw Blanket – Throw blankets with your sorority or fraternity on them make a great gift. They’re decorative and highly functional, plus they’re great if you’re buying for a member of the opposite sex.

3) Tote Bags – These are highly popular among ladies in sororities and are great for carrying books around campus, while showing Greek pride. They are also great as beach bags, and you can carry them to important chapter meetings and even intramurals. They also serve as great purses.

4) Greek Stationary – In this day and age, most people don’t send a lot of snail mail. But occasionally, they do, or at least write hand-written notes to people. Greek-themed stationary makes a great gift, especially for the college freshman who just completed initiation. A perfect present from a Big Sister to her Little Sister.

5) License Plates and Plate Frames – This is another great unisex gift – good for both sexes and can be given from either sex. Every Greek wants to show his or her pride wherever they go. This is the perfect way to do it.

6) Sorority Cork Board – This is the perfect welcoming gift when a new sister moves into the house, or a housewarming present for a sister who gets her own place off campus. Cork boards can be found with a variety of decorative ribbons with colorful pins, all featuring your sorority’s letters and even crest. They serve multiple purposes too – decoration for photos, of course, but also to hang a functional daily to-do list or calendar.

7) Drinkware – Another great housewarming present would be drinkware. Whether you’re purchasing coffee cups, plates, champagne glasses, wine glasses, or even coasters, drinkware is the perfect way to welcome your friend into their new place. After all, what Greek doesn’t love entertaining guests?

8) Jewelry – Everyone loves jewelry. Whether you’re purchasing a necklace, dog tags, bracelets, wristbands, earrings, or friendship rings, jewelry makes a great gift that the recipient can wear daily.
