Caption Taylor Kitsch in ‘John Carter’Taylor Kitsch steps into his first leading feature film role in the upcoming sci-fi action adventure movie, “John Carter,” a project he called “an incredible journey,” – but one that took its toll on his body.“Many [bumps and bruises],” the 30-year-old actor, who plays the title character in the Disney movie about a Civil War solider who is mysteriously transported to Mars and is quickly entrenched in the planet’s own civil war, told Access Hollywood.“Some groin tears, to high ankle sprains, some good cuts,” Taylor told Access at the movie’s junket in Carefree, Ariz., when asked about his on-set injuries. “I would love a bruise on some days, compared to what I was actually dealing with.”Despite his numerous injuries and hours wearing a harness – used to create the film’s out of this world action sequences – Taylor was committed to nailing the character created by author Edgar Rice Burroughs a 100 years ago.“I loved the challenge,” Taylor told Access, explaining that he wanted to bring “heart” to his character.In addition to his epic Disney movie, Taylor also has “Battleship” and Oliver Stone’s “Savages” coming up – but what about a movie version of the beloved “Friday Night Lights,” where he played tortured football star/heartbreaker Tim Riggins?“I don’t know!” Taylor said of rumors of a big screen sequel to the series (which was adapted for the small screen from the original 2004 movie). “I have no idea what’s going on.”Taylor told Access that he has yet to see a script and doesn’t even know if one exists for the rumored project, but if he gets his way, “FNL” fans may not see Riggins rehashed on the big screen.”[Series creator] Pete [Berg] knows this as much as anyone else… I love the way that we ended the character of where he’s at,” Taylor explained. “I love playing him, but I think I want to leave him the way that it is.”“John Carter” opens in theaters on March 9.
